Why is there, apart from normal human greed and desire for power, such an impelling necessity to squeeze people and resources to the last drop? Why are we absolutely forced to maximise profits, and to hell with people's health and well being? Why do we have to steer technology towards the destruction of the very basis of our survival which this planet has been kindly providing us for as long as we can remember?
I believe that a little known economist, Silvio Gesell, has discovered the answer to this riddle in the early part of the twentieth century. He speaks about the need to keep money in circulation, and about the historical role of interest in achieving this end. He points out the hidden role of interest as well, that of shifting buying power from the poor to the rich, and makes a proposal to remedy the situation. Money is a tool to facilitate exchange. It follows, like everything else here on this physical plane, the principles of yin and yang. There is "hard" (yang) money and there is "soft" (yin) money. At this time, the world is dominated by yang money. My purpose with this article is to convince you that we need to find a better balance in matters of exchange and economics. We must find a way to put the yin back into money and the economy.

The moneymasters

(Banks are creating money out of nothing, taking your savings and loaning out several times as much money - depending on the country's banking laws - as they actually took in. So in fact they loan your money out and create more money out of thin air, distorting economic reality in the banks' favour, as of course the money they created is "theirs" to charge interest on).

Yes, this is a German page, but you find four articles in English on it, if you scroll down past the first all German text. The articles are about the monetary system and interest.
Warum finden wir es, abgesehen von normaler menschlicher Macht- und Profitgier, absolut notwendig, Menschen und Ressourcen bis zum letzten Tropfen auszuquetschen? Ich glaube, da Silvio Gesell, ein weithin unbekannter deutsch/argentinischer Wirtschaftswissenschaftler die Antwort auf diese Fragen schon am Anfang des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts gefunden hatte. Er spricht von der Notwendigkeit, das Geld am Umlaufen zu halten und von der entscheidenden Rolle, die der Zins dabei spielt. Er zeigt auch die versteckte Funktion des Zinses auf, die der Umverteilung der Kaufkraft von den Armen zu den Reichen, und er macht Vorschlgge, um die Situation in den Griff zu bekommen. Perché a parte la normale umana avidità ci prefiggiamo di spremere le persone e le risorse fino all'ultima goccia? Perché siamo assolutamente obbligati a massimizzare il profitto non curandoci della salute e del benessere del prossimo? Perché la tecnologia deve essere distruttiva delle nostre basi di sopravvivenza che questo pianeta ha così gentilmente messo a nostra disposizione da sempre?
Credo che Silvio Gesell, un economista tedesco/argentino pressoché sconosciuto, abbia trovato la risposta a queste domande nella prima parte del ventesimo secolo. Gesell parla della necessità di far sì che la moneta circoli continuamente e del ruolo storico degli interessi in questo senso. Ma Gesell ci spiega anche la funzione nascosta degli interessi, quella di ridistribuire il potere d'acquisto dai poveri ai ricchi e fa delle proposte per rimediare a ciò. Dibattito sull'occupazione - Il lato positivo

Qui si parla del problema dell'occupazione, ma in chiave del tutto insolita. L'autore sostiene che la disoccupazione un segno di progresso e ci porterà ad un futuro migliore. L'occupazione, insomma, non necessariamente l'unico mezzo per procurarsi la necessaria liquidità per la propria sopravvivenza.
L'economia che cambia . . . come gestire?

Lo dice il titolo; questo articolo parla dell'economia a 360 gradi. Si parla di produzione, di energia ed ecologia, della necessità di un rapido sviluppo di tecnologie compatibili con l'ambiente, degli interessi e dei debiti, della speculazione finanziaria, dell'inflazione e dell'occupazione. Le soluzioni prospettate provvengono dall'economista argentino/tedesco Silvio Gesell.

Il denaro segue, come tutto il resto su questo piano fisico, i principi di yin e yang. Vi è denaro "duro" (yang), e denaro "soft" (yin). In questo momento, il mondo è dominato dal denaro yang. Lo scopo di questo articolo è di convincervi che bisogna trovare un migliore equilibrio in materia di scambio e di economia.
